Tyrod Taylor: Player Profile

Tyrod Taylor is the new starting quarterback for the Houston Texans. Although he has been either a second stringer or not on a team most of his career, I think it is finally time for Tyrod Taylor to have a shot at starter for a team in the NFL. I’m glad the Texans picked him up and gave him this opportunity, because honestly, we had no other options. Let’s take a look and see the journey that Tyrod took to get to this point in his career.

Tyrod was born on August 3, 1989, in Hampton Virginia. He went to Virginia Tech and played there from 2007-2010. In 2009, he led the Hokies to the Orange bowl during his sophomore year. He also led them to the Orange Bowl in 2011 as a senior. He was then drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2011 as a sixth-round pick. He was the backup to Joe Flacco from 2011-2014 and even won a Super Bowl during that stint as a backup. After being a backup for the Ravens, he was eventually signed by the Buffalo Bills as a free agent in 2015. He earned the role as a starter for them and even gained himself a spot on the roster for the Pro Bowl. While with the Bills, he led them to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years in 2017. He was then traded to the Cleveland Browns in March of 2018. Taylor then went on to play for the Browns, Chargers, and Texans and was supposed to start for all of them, but injuries got in the way. Overall, the last couple of years have been tough for Tyrod. Injuries have taken away his chances of being an NFL starter, so I am excited to see what he does with the Texans. I have nothing but respect for Tyrod and truly believe he can be a great quarterback for us and can make some things happen. Hopefully he stays healthy and can be the starter for us all year.
